The Carrier Name and Puron Solution

Freon®22 also known as R-22, has long been identified as a harmful refrigerant. While it is currently being phased out of use as part of The Clean Air Act, many homeowners are still operating HVAC units that rely upon Freon. Freon® 22 is still the most commonly used refrigerant in residential homes today, but when their unit breaks down, some homeowners may experience sticker shock as they learn that their unit must be replaced with one that doesn’t use R-22.

Fortunately, when homeowners replace their old HVAC units with one that doesn’t use Freon, they can benefit from cleaner and more energy efficient systems, which will save money in the long-run. Puron, also called R-410A, has been approved by the EPA to replace Freon® 22 and is the world’s first, long- term solution to replacing ozone-depleting refrigerants.

For nearly twenty years, Carrier has led the HVAC industry in the research and development of Puron-powered equipment.
